Denyse Stawicki

Hi, I’m Denyse. I am a graduate student at Pacific NW College of Arts in Portland, Oregon. I am working towards an MFA in Print Media. I consider myself to be a non-traditional student. I have a long history of experiences that influence the projects and work that I produce. I have served in the United States Air Force, worked for newspaper companies, lived in India while working at an advertising agency, and spent several years in the high tech field as a designer and team manager. I am a wife and a mom to my 14 year old son. I am passionate about finding ways my family can reduce our carbon footprint and do our part for the planet. In my practice I work with recycled materials and found objects. I want to be a part of positive change in bringing communities together rather than to divide them. I often explore intersectionality in my artwork as a way to better educate myself and to understand how I can be a more inclusive member of my community and be an example to my son.
